Songs of Syx: the Embassy's output, and what doubles it

Songs of Syx Guide 8 min read

Every worker assigned to an Embassy generates 1 emissary point, slowly, for use on the Diplomacy screen. Feeding the building 40 Fabric, 2 Jewelry, or 2 Sithilon — any one of the three, activated as an option — doubles that generation rate. Staffing is close to free of a wrong choice: every species works the Embassy at 100% skill except Argonosh, who produce at only 10% skill. What differs between species is how much they like the job, not how many points they make, and that split answers the question that comes up repeatedly on Steam’s own discussion boards: what does an Embassy actually do, and is it worth the room.

These figures come from the Songs of Syx wiki’s Embassy page and its underlying infobox, read directly — not summarized from a guide — on 22 September 2026, against V71 “Reign of Terror,” still the current version per Steam’s news feed. The wiki has no page for the Diplomacy screen itself, so several downstream questions (what a Flatter action costs in points, whether trade treaties require adjacent territory) stay open below rather than guessed at.

The Embassy is a Government / Administration building, so it competes with your other admin rooms for Approntix-rank floor space rather than for military or industrial workers specifically. Its accident rate is 0%, which puts it in the same “safe indoor desk job” category as most administration rooms — useful context if you are deciding what to do with subjects who have a low Safety stat.

The three resource multipliers, compared

The page names three separate resources that each double point output if you turn the option on. It does not say you can stack more than one multiplier — the wording is “if enabled,” singular effect, suggesting the x2 does not compound past the first activated resource, though the page never states that explicitly.

ResourceAmount per activationWhat it’s made from
Fabric40Fibre, via a Weaver
Jewelry2Metal + Gems, via a Jeweller
Sithilon2Mined directly (Sithilon Mine)

Fabric is the cheapest to keep flowing once a cotton chain exists, but 40 units per activation is a meaningfully larger draw on a Weaver’s output than the 2-unit asks from Jewelry or Sithilon. Jewelry and Sithilon both route through mining (gem or sithilon deposits respectively), so their real cost is whether your map actually has those deposits, not the unit count. The wiki does not publish a consumption rate — how often the 40/2/2 gets spent — so “cheapest” here is a per-activation comparison, not a total-cost one; treat it as a starting point for testing against your own map’s deposits.

One inconsistency worth flagging: the Embassy’s own infobox spells the third resource “Silthlon” in its prose, while the resource’s actual wiki page is titled “Sithilon.” That is the wiki’s own transcription slip, not a game mechanic — the game likely uses one spelling internally.

Who to staff: skill barely varies, fulfilment does

Garthimi100%25%Full output
Amevia100%25%Full output
Cantor100%0%Full output, no fulfilment gain from the job
Argonosh10%0%The one species that actually produces fewer points

Seven of the eight species produce at identical, full skill in an Embassy — the room does not reward picking a “diplomat race.” The one exception is Argonosh, whose 10% skill modifier means an Argonosh emissary produces roughly a tenth of a normal worker’s points for the same seat. If you’re optimizing raw point output, keep Argonosh out of the Embassy and put them somewhere their skill isn’t penalized. Cretonians are the opposite case: identical output to everyone but Argonosh, but a 300% fulfilment multiplier means Cretonian embassy staff get far more happiness benefit from the assignment than any other species — worth knowing if you’re juggling which race fills which admin building for morale reasons, a question the race requirement matrix covers for other rooms.

What the points are actually spent on

The Embassy page states three uses for emissary points on the Diplomacy screen, without giving point costs for any of them:

  • Flatter — raises an Opinion of another empire.
  • Sabotage — lowers it.
  • Assassination — a mission to remove a rival despot.

The only other confirmed number tied to emissary points anywhere on the wiki is a title bonus: The Usurper, earned by assassinating 10 or more foreign royalties (population 5,000+ required), provides a flat +10% Emissary Points. That is a permanent production boost once earned, and confirms “Emissary Points” in the Titles list is the same resource the Embassy produces — the two systems are consistently named across the wiki’s separate pages, which is a small but real cross-check that the Embassy mechanic above hasn’t changed out from under the older Titles entry.

The Trade page separately confirms that trade with other cities is arranged “via the Diplomacy screen,” ideally formalized into a standing agreement so importer/exporter buildings run automatically — but it does not state whether that agreement requires a shared border, a minimum Opinion, or a minimum emissary point spend. If your neighbours are on the other side of the map and a trade agreement option isn’t appearing, players report the same confusion in Steam discussion threads, but the wiki does not currently document an answer — treat any specific threshold you read elsewhere as unconfirmed until the developer or the wiki states it directly.

The V71 change that explains the questions

V71’s patch notes list “Diplomacy UI, war mechanics, and trust system improved” and “Emissary office added for nobles” among its changes — both are recent enough (15 June 2026) that older forum answers about the Embassy may no longer match the current build, and the “Emissary office” is not yet documented on the wiki at all. The full V71 patch-note breakdown groups that bullet under “Other major changes,” one line among 94, which is likely why the mechanic it describes hasn’t gotten its own wiki page yet. Until it does, this guide covers the Embassy room specifically, not whatever the noble-only Emissary office adds on top of it.
